Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate for 2023, has unveiled an innovative approach to combat Nigeria’s water scarcity issue – the “BoreholeChallenge”.

This initiative follows his recent successful implementation of boreholes in Northern Nigeria.

Obi’s commendable efforts in the North have sparked curiosity among other regions, raising questions about the possibility of similar interventions in their areas.

In response to queries about his future plans, Obi explained, “The provision of boreholes was initially a Ramadan initiative. We visited people, supported them with food, and responded to their requests.” He further assured, “Before the month concludes, we plan to introduce what we call a challenge. In doing so, we are addressing numerous issues. The ‘BoreholeChallenge’ is one such initiative that can significantly contribute to problem-solving.”

Obi’s announcement is timely, as many Nigerian communities are currently struggling with insufficient access to clean water, resulting in various health and sanitation issues. Through the ‘BoreholeChallenge’, Obi aims to stimulate collective participation and encourage positive change in tackling this urgent matter.
