Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, expressed deep concern over the persistent terrorist attacks across Plateau, Benue, and other parts of Nigeria.
In a statement shared on his X handle, Obi highlighted the tragic attack in Zurak village in Wase LGA of Plateau State, which resulted in the deaths of approximately 40 people and left many others hospitalized.
Obi strongly condemned these recurring terrorist attacks, particularly noting the alarming frequency of such incidents in Plateau. He emphasized the need for the government to fulfill its responsibility of securing the lives and properties of Nigerians through decisive actions. Obi called for urgent measures to drastically reduce insecurity by investing in critical areas of human development, including education, health, and poverty alleviation.
“I sincerely condole with the Governor of Plateau, Governor Caleb Mutfwang, the government, and the people of Plateau State, especially the bereaved families, over this tragic occurrence,” Obi stated. “May God grant eternal rest to the dead and quick recovery to the hospitalized.”
