In a statement dated October 21, 2024, former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi congratulated his “Dear Brother and Former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria,” Prof. Kingsley Chiedu Moghalu, on his appointment as the inaugural president of the African School of Governance (ASG) in Kigali, Rwanda.

Obi commended Moghalu’s selection by African leaders, expressing confidence in his ability to leverage his extensive knowledge and experience in addressing the continent’s governance challenges. As the pioneer president, Obi noted that Moghalu will help shape the future of Africa by providing world-class education in public policy and governance, equipping emerging leaders with essential skills and mindsets for effective leadership.

Reflecting on Africa’s and Nigeria’s struggles with governance, Obi emphasized the importance of institutions like ASG in fostering competent and capable leaders committed to the continent’s development. He concluded by offering his prayers for Moghalu’s success and reiterated his belief that “A New Nigeria, and indeed Africa, is POssible.”
