Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, issued a statement on December 19, 2024, detailing his visits to sympathize with families in Enugu and Anambra.

In the morning, Obi visited the National Orthopaedic Hospital in Enugu to offer support and encouragement to a family affected by a ghastly gas explosion.

He then traveled to Anambra to commiserate with Professor Gershon Ejeckam, a renowned pathologist, over the sudden death of his only son, Dr. Chukwuemeka Ejeckam, who recently passed away in Qatar. Obi also extended his condolences to the immediate family.

Obi emphasized the immeasurable pain of losing a promising child who was contributing productively to society. He then proceeded to Onitsha to offer his condolences to Mr. Anthony Onyebuchi Ibeziako, a dedicated teacher and former Vice Principal at Christ The King College, Onitsha, who lost his wife at the age of 91.

Obi prayed for eternal rest for the souls of the late Dr. Chukwuemeka Ejeckam and the late Lady Kushnell Ibeziako, and for God to grant the Ejeckam and Ibeziako families the strength to bear their irreplaceable losses. He also wished for God’s protection and blessings upon both families.
