Peter Gregory Obi, former Governor of Anambra State and the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, has extended financial support to five young entrepreneurs in Kaduna State to help grow their businesses.
The beneficiaries were standout participants at the Kaduna SMEs Hub Programme, an exhibition aimed at promoting small and medium-scale enterprises. The event, organized by Hassan Adamu over the weekend, took place in the historic heart of Northern Nigeria. Obi, invited as a special guest, was represented by Dr. Yunusa Tanko, National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement Worldwide.
The top recipient of Obi’s empowerment initiative was Ummu Kurthum of Qrusty’s Dishes & Pastries, who secured the first position. She was followed by Aminu Ahmed Nu’uman of Sufac Food Industry, and Joel Tirom Muah of Pherobies & Perfumes, both recognized for their outstanding business ventures.
Two additional participants received consolation prizes: Moses Ojo of MO Footwears & Appeals, and Hajara Jafar Muhammad of Gimbiya Integrated Firm.
True to his modest nature, Obi chose not to disclose the monetary values awarded. However, he praised the resilience and creativity of the youth who are striving to become self-reliant rather than depend on government assistance. He also commended the organizers of the Kaduna SMEs Hub Programme, emphasizing the importance of such initiatives in unlocking the potential of young Nigerians.
The gesture was warmly received by the recipients and attendees, who expressed gratitude for the support and encouragement from Obi and the Obidient Movement.
