Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate for 2023, has expressed his deep concern over the recent surge in violent attacks across the nation, particularly in the Mangu and Bokkos Local Council Areas of Plateau State.

The tragic incidents have reportedly claimed at least 12 lives, including a student from Plateau State University, and left many others injured.

The persistent wave of violence in Plateau State and other parts of the country is causing widespread distress among Nigerians. The situation has escalated to the point where Plateau State University had to be closed due to the increasing insecurity in the area.

Obi questions the duration of this burden of insecurity that the nation has to bear before decisive and calculated steps are taken to eradicate this menace. He emphasizes the need for leaders to value human life and express their disapproval of the rampant loss of lives in the country.

He extends his condolences to the Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, and the residents of Plateau State who have been affected by these unfortunate events. His sympathies also go out to families across the country who have lost loved ones due to the prevailing insecurity.

Despite the darkness of the current situation, Obi urges Nigerians to remain united and hopeful in their pursuit of a peaceful and secure nation where every citizen can live and prosper freely. He prays for the repose of the souls of the departed and hopes for a brighter and safer future for Nigeria.
