Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has kept a promise he made earlier this year by returning to Grimard College of Nursing Sciences in Anyigba, Kogi State.

In a statement posted on his X (formerly Twitter) account, Obi revealed that during his visit three months ago, he had donated ₦10 million to the college to support learning initiatives.

At that time, the College’s Proprietor and Rector highlighted the need for a 32-seater coaster bus to facilitate the students’ clinical experience visits, which was crucial for the institution’s accreditation. Given that the cost of a new bus was over ₦100 million, the Bishop, Most Rev. Dr. Anthony Adaji, suggested that a fairly used bus costing between ₦20 million and ₦30 million would be sufficient.

True to his word, Obi returned to the institution to deliver a fairly used bus within the proposed budget to help the students with their clinical assignments. Alongside the bus donation, Obi contributed an additional ₦5 million to cover registration, insurance, and other related expenses for a year.

Obi expressed gratitude to the College’s management for their warm reception and commended their ongoing commitment to improving society through education and healthcare. He reaffirmed his dedication to supporting the institution as part of his broader vision for a better Nigeria, stating, “I would continue to support them in my modest way as we work together towards a new Nigeria that is possible.”
