In response to the recent bomb explosion in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, Labour party presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Peter Obi paid a visit to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde on Monday.

Peter Obi, was accompanied by Aisha Yesufu and party chieftain Dele Farotimi, where they engaged in a closed-door meeting at the Governor’s Office in the State Secretariat, Agodi GRA.

The explosion on Dejo Oyelese Street in Ibadan resulted in five confirmed deaths, 77 people with varying degrees of injuries, and damage to 58 houses. Governor Makinde presented a preliminary report to President Bola Tinubu, assuring that justice would be served.

Governor Makinde, in a statement on his social media page last Thursday, emphasized the government’s dedication to ensuring justice for the victims. He mentioned ongoing efforts to collect details of those affected and pledged to announce comprehensive steps to support the victims in rebuilding their lives.

Furthermore, the governor revealed the establishment of a donation platform for the victims, stating, “We have also set up a platform for donations to victims. The money donated goes directly to the landlords/resident’s association’s bank account while our administration will work with them to ensure it is distributed to the right beneficiaries.”
