Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the last election, has expressed deep sorrow over the gruesome murder of Hon. Justice Azuka, a member of the Anambra State House of Assembly representing Onitsha North 1 constituency.

In a heartfelt statement, Obi lamented the tragic loss, stating that he witnessed the burial with “a heavy heart and anguish.” He described the lawmaker’s death as a painful reminder of the worsening insecurity in Nigeria, urging all levels of government to prioritize security as their foremost responsibility.

“As a father and political leader, it is tormenting to see a promising young man wasted in such a brutal manner,” Obi stated.

He extended his condolences to Azuka’s family, the people of Onitsha, and the entire Anambra State. Obi also expressed deep concern for the late lawmaker’s young children, who have now been deprived of their father’s love and guidance.

Obi prayed for the peaceful repose of Azuka’s soul and called for justice to be served against those responsible for the heinous act.

“May God, in His infinite mercy, comfort his family and grant him eternal rest,” he concluded.
