Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has expressed deep condolences for those killed during the #EndBadGovernance protests under the President Bola Tinubu regime.

Peter Obi, shared the heartfelt message on his X handle, expressing deep condolences to the families of those who have lost their lives in the ongoing #EndBadGovernance protests.

In his post, Obi conveyed his sorrow for the tragic loss of life among those striving for a better Nigeria.

“I wish to most sincerely pass my condolences to the families of all those who lost their lives in the ongoing #EndBadGovernance protests. I deeply mourn these brothers and sisters of ours, who have lost their lives in their struggle for a better nation,” Obi wrote.

He emphasized the importance of peaceful protests and the need for the demonstrators’ legitimate demands to be addressed within the framework of the law. Obi urged the protesters to maintain good behaviour and avoid violence, stating that the nation cannot be rebuilt by destroying existing structures.

“I will continue to urge the protesters to be of good behaviour and remain peaceful in their actions. I encourage them to shun every form of violence, as we cannot build a new nation by destroying what we already have,” he continued.

Obi also called on security agencies to act with civility and ensure the protection of lives and property during the protests. He expressed his firm belief that Nigeria will overcome its current challenges and emerge as a leading nation in human and national development.

“I sincerely believe in my heart that Nigeria will in the future rise, and the issues of hunger, poverty, insecurity, corruption, and mismanagement of public funds, will be confined to the past. Then, Nigeria will be one of the exemplary countries on earth, leading in human and national development,” Obi stated.

He concluded his message by praying for eternal rest for the deceased and a speedy recovery for the injured, reaffirming his vision for a “New Nigeria.”

“May God grant eternal rest to the dead and grant quick recovery to the injured. A New Nigeria remains POssible.”

NN News Media reports that dozens of protesters have been killed and many others injured by security agents in the northern part of the country during ongoing demonstrations.
