Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, has expressed profound sadness over the death of Ekene Adams, the Member of the House of Representatives for Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency in Kaduna State.
Ekene Adams, born in 1985, passed away on the morning of Tuesday, July 16, 2024, after a brief illness.
In a statement on his X handle, Peter Obi extended his condolences to the late representative’s family, highlighting Adams’ significant contributions to the development of sports in Nigeria.
“I am deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Hon. Ekene Abubakar Adams, a member of the Labour Party in the House of Representatives from Kaduna State. On behalf of our Party and the Obidient family worldwide, our heartfelt condolences go out to his wife, family, and loved ones. His untimely death at the age of 39 is a tragic loss to the nation. It is also a blow to the much-needed youth input into our political space as a nation,” Obi stated.
Obi further emphasized the importance of youth participation in political leadership, noting that Adams’ death comes at a crucial time. He praised Adams’ work as Chairman of the House Committee on Sports and his efforts in representing the Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency.
“His passion and expertise in this field will be greatly missed by the nation at large. May God Almighty who called him home at this time forgive his sins and grant him eternal rest, and grant his family and all of us the fortitude to bear his very sad irreplaceable loss. May God Almighty protect and bless his family always,” Obi concluded.
