Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, has expressed his deep condolences to several prominent Nigerian families grieving the loss of their children.

In a statement shared via his X handle, Obi extended his heartfelt sympathies to Ahmed Makarfi, the former Governor of Kaduna State, following the passing of his son, Faisal Makarfi.

Obi also offered his condolences to Mele Kolo Kyari, Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Limited, on the death of his daughter, Fatima Kyari. Additionally, he expressed his sympathy to Dame Pauline Tallen, whom he recently visited after the loss of her only son, Richard Adamu Tallen.

Reflecting on the immense pain of losing young family members with bright futures ahead, Obi said, “One can only imagine the pain of losing children with very promising futures at such a young age.” He acknowledged the void their passing has left in their families but encouraged acceptance of the tragedies as the will of God.

Obi prayed for God’s forgiveness for the departed souls and for the Almighty to grant them Aljanna Firdausi, while also offering prayers for the protection and continued blessings of the Makarfi, Kyari, and Tallen families.
