Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, took to his X handle to share details of his recent visit to Kaduna alongside his colleague, Sen. Datti Baba-Ahmed.

The pair visited former Kaduna State Governor Ahmed Makarfi to personally offer their condolences to him and his family following the death of his son, Faisal Makarfi.

“We prayed to God to console the family over such a sad occurrence and grant them, and all of us, the fortitude to bear the sad and irreplaceable loss,” Obi wrote. He also prayed for Almighty Allah to forgive Faisal’s sins and grant him Aljanna Firdausi, while extending blessings to the Makarfi family.

During their visit to Kaduna, Obi and Baba-Ahmed also stopped at an almajiri school that Obi had been supporting. Reflecting on his earlier visit to the school earlier this year, Obi explained that he had found the infrastructure in a poor state, with no functional toilet facilities or water supply. He made a financial donation to improve these critical needs for the children.

Upon revisiting the school, Obi expressed joy at the progress made. The school now boasts a decent toilet system and two functional boreholes, thanks to his earlier support. In light of this, Obi donated an additional N5 million to further support the school and ensure the children have access to better education.

Obi reaffirmed his commitment to building a better Nigeria, where children are equipped with the education and skills necessary for brighter futures. “A New Nigeria remains POssible!” he concluded.
