Reports have shown that the former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Gregory Obi, performed far better than two of his Lagos State counterparts, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Raji Babatunde Fashola, respectively, as governor in terms of good governance.

This was deduced data source from a research work produced by Global Data Lab (GDL), an independent data and research center at the Institute of Management Research, Radboud Univeristy, Netherlands.

The research covered areas including rule of law, control of corruption, government effectiveness, accountability, absence of violence, and so on.

The work, however, concentrated on growth indicators used to assess low-middle income countries, including Gross National Income per Capita, Life Expectancy, Human Development Index (HDI), Health Index, Educational Index and Income Index of Anambra State between 2007 and 2014.

On the other hand, it covered Lagos State from 2003 to 2007 under Tinubu and between 2007 and 2014 under Fashola.

It is remarkable that in ALL indices, Anambra State, under the administration of Peter Obi, performed better than those of Tinubu and Fashola respectively.

See the growth indicators below:

The research seems to have put to rest the controversy surrounding who is a better administrator between Peter Obi and Tinubu.

Recently, the internet was set agog over who did better as governor between the duo following the outcome of the 2023 presidential election held on February 25, 2023.

The election saw Tinubu controversially declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) amidst protests.

Presently, at least five political parties have challenged the outcome of the election at the tribunal, including the runners-up, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi’s Labour Party (LP).
