The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has expressed delight with the appointment of Ide John Udeagbala as the Mayor of Aba City by Governor Alex Otti of Abia State.

In a statement on Thursday via his X handle, Obi described Udeagbala as a successful businessman and industrialist who, through years of hard work, has built many productive ventures and successful businesses.

Obi stated that Udeagabala served the society in many leadership positions, such as the former President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (NACCIMA).

The LP flagbearer stated that the new Mayor of Aba City will leverage his years of knowledge and experience in commerce and industry to contribute to the rebuilding of the industrial and commercial city of Aba.

He wrote: “I am delighted with the appointment of Ide John Udeagbala as the Mayor of Aba City, by the Governor of Abia State, Dr @alexottiofr. Ide John Udeagbala is a successful businessman and industrialist who, through years of hard work, has built many productive ventures and successful businesses.

“He has also served the society in many leadership positions. As the former president of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture, NACCIMA, he will leverage his years of knowledge and experience in commerce and industry to contribute to the rebuilding of the industrial and commercial city of Aba.

“I have always advocated that people should be appointed or elected into public offices based on their character, competence and capacity. Udeagbala, over the years, has proven himself worthy of such public trust. I wish him well in his new assignment.

“I also thank Gov Otti for this initiative, and for all his efforts to deliver good governance to the people of Abia State. By doing the right things, and providing ethical leadership to the people, we will build the New Nigeria of our dreams.”
