Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, visited the College of Nursing Sciences and the School of Medical Laboratory Technicians at Bishop Shanahan Specialist Hospital, Nsukka, on February 1, 2025.

This institution, the only one of its kind in the senatorial zone, has been a key beneficiary of his ongoing support.

Over the past four years, Obi has contributed over N100 million to the growth and development of the institution, aligning with his vision of strengthening Nigeria’s healthcare and education sectors. During his visit, he was pleased to learn that the college had been upgraded and accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to award National and Higher National Diplomas. He also noted the institution’s expanded infrastructure and the increasing enrollment of students receiving quality education.

While addressing the students, Obi encouraged them to stay committed to their studies, emphasizing that education is a gateway to global opportunities and a healthier Nigeria. To further support their academic journey, he donated an additional N20 million to the college.

Reaffirming his long-term vision, Obi stated that his goal is to build a nation driven by human capital development, ensuring a higher quality of life through strategic investments in education, healthcare, and poverty alleviation.
