On January 31, 2025, Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi reiterated his commitment to health, education, and poverty alleviation during a visit to Nsukka, Enugu State.
Continuing his dedication to fostering development, Obi visited the proposed College of Nursing Sciences, housed within Faith Foundation Hospital. This visit followed up on his initial engagement in November 2023, when he pledged support for the institution. At the time, he provided a seed donation of N20 million and committed to monitoring the project’s progress.
Impressed by the substantial advancements made so far, Obi reinforced his backing by donating an additional N20 million. He assured stakeholders, including the Proprietor, Rt. Rev. Aloysius Agbo, Bishop of Nsukka Diocese (Anglican Communion), of his continued support until the college is fully operational.
The College of Nursing Sciences aims to become a crucial health institution, equipping Nigerians with essential skills in nursing and allied disciplines. Obi emphasized that investing in education and healthcare is fundamental to building a progressive Nigeria, stating:
“To build a Nigeria that is possible, we must empower our people with the knowledge and skills they need for a better future.”
His ongoing contributions reflect his broader vision for national development, prioritizing critical sectors that directly impact citizens’ well-being.
