Peter Obi, the former Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, has responded to concerns raised about his leadership style during an interview on Arise TV with journalist Donu Kogbara.
In a statement, Obi emphasized the importance of engaging with diverse perspectives, stating, “Having watched the interview with Donu Kogbara on Arise TV and considering the concerns she raised, I felt it was important to visit her. As I have always maintained, leadership and personal growth are deeply tied to the ability to listen, learn, and engage with a variety of perspectives.”
Obi expressed gratitude for Kogbara’s hospitality and the meaningful discussion they shared, noting that such exchanges help foster mutual understanding and constructive dialogue.
The visit followed Kogbara’s critique of Obi during her Arise TV appearance, where she remarked, “I don’t understand how Peter Obi has gone from top to bottom. He has become so pedestrian, making anodyne statements on TV, building boreholes, donating to schools. He is a good guy, but we can’t see a leader the opposition needs. He is a disappointment.”
Obi’s measured response highlights his commitment to continuous improvement and engagement, underscoring his belief in the value of dialogue, even in the face of criticism.
