Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has extended his sincere best wishes to the Nigerian contingent participating in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France.
In a statement posted on his X handle, Obi expressed his support for the 88 Nigerian athletes who will be competing across various sporting events.
Obi reminded the athletes that Nigeria is known for greatness and victory, and that they are talented, resilient, determined, and courageous in the face of competition. He urged them to hold onto the spirit of strength and victory as they represent Nigeria at the 2024 Paris Olympics and strive to bring home trophies.
The former presidential candidate also wished the athletes and their coaches safe and injury-free days, assuring them of the nation’s kind thoughts and full support.
Obi’s message comes as the Nigerian contingent prepares for the historic opening ceremony, which will feature a unique parade down the Seine River instead of the traditional stadium procession. The Nigerian outfit, which radiated confidence and carried the “Spirit of Naija,” was praised by the Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, for its uniqueness and expression of Nigeria’s diversity.
President Bola Tinubu has also sent a message of goodwill to the team, saying, “Wishing Team Nigeria a phenomenal outing as the Paris 2024 Olympics commence in France. May God bless Nigeria!”
The Nigerian team’s camping allowances have been cleared by the Ministry of Sports, underscoring the government’s dedication to fostering an environment where Nigerian athletes can thrive and excel.
As the world gathers to celebrate the spirit of unity and sportsmanship at the 2024 Paris Olympics, the Nigerian contingent is poised to make the nation proud and bring glory to the country
