Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, visited the College of Nursing Sciences in Amichi, Anambra State, to boost morale among the institution’s management, staff, and students.
Reflecting on his tenure as Anambra State’s governor, Obi reminisced about his visit to the then weed-overgrown Amichi Diocesan Hospital. In collaboration with the hospital’s proprietor, Rt. Rev. Ephraim Ikeakor, they not only revitalized the hospital but also laid the groundwork for what would become the College of Nursing.
Obi was thrilled to learn that the college achieved a perfect pass rate in the recent November exams conducted by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria. He extended his congratulations to everyone involved, from the proprietor to the students, recognizing their collective efforts in achieving this milestone.
To further support the college’s mission, Obi donated ₦10 million towards enhancing the training of future nurses. He emphasized the importance of investing in healthcare education as a pivotal step towards national development and building the Nigeria everyone aspires to see.
