Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has extended heartfelt Ramadan greetings to the Muslim community, urging them to uphold the core values of the holy month—brotherly love, fasting, and deep devotion to God.
In a statement marking the beginning of Ramadan, which follows the official sighting of the moon and the pronouncement by the head of Nigeria’s muslim Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar CFR the Sultan of Sokoto, Obi encouraged Nigerians to seize this sacred period as an opportunity to offer earnest prayers for the nation. He emphasized the need to seek divine intervention for better leadership, national unity, peace, and relief from insecurity and economic hardships.
Obi also stressed the importance of charity and almsgiving, particularly to the sick, needy, and less privileged, in accordance with the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). He reminded Nigerians that acts of kindness and support are even more crucial during challenging times.
“As our nation faces significant economic difficulties, it is vital that we extend a helping hand to one another, particularly in this holy month of Ramadan,” Obi stated.
He concluded by sending his best wishes to Muslims across the country, expressing his hope that their prayers and sacrifices will be accepted by Allah.
“As I continue my nationwide engagements, I wish everyone a blessed and fruitful Ramadan. May Allah accept our prayers and shower us with His blessings. Ramadan Mubarak!“
