Valentine Obienyem, media adviser to the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi, has made some clarifications over the reported missing phone of the former governor of Anambra State.

On Tuesday night, it was alleged that Obi’s phone was stolen by a thief at the presidential election petition tribunal.

Obi and other chieftains of the Labour Party were at the court for the adoption of their final written address.

Obienyem while speaking on reported theft said that, though, Obi left his phones on the table to exchange pleasantries with some people in the court but for safety sake, one of his aides picked up the phone without his knowledge.

He however, thanked Nigerians for the concern they showed over the matter.

“Thanks you for your solidarity.

“Yesterday, the news of the loss of Mr. Peter Obi’s phone went viral. The spontaneous outpouring of solidarity was yet again a demonstration of the love of the people for him.

“May I happily inform you that it was not a case of theft. He left the phones on his table to exchange pleasantries with some people in court, whereupon, for safety sake, one of his aides picked the phones.

“Once again, we appreciate your concern.”
