In a chilling account shared by a human rights organization affiliated with the Para-Mallam Peace Foundation (PMPF), the true horror behind the Christmas Eve attacks in Plateau State has been laid bare.
The recount reveals a disturbing narrative of a nine-year-old pupil, Regard Yusuf, manipulated by terrorists to betray his mother’s hiding place, only to be mercilessly butchered despite promises of sparing his life.
The Para-Mallam Peace Foundation strongly condemns these attacks, branding them a calculated act of genocide rather than a mere conflict between farmers and herders. The aftermath has left a three-year-old critically injured, shot at close range, and a five-year-old girl receiving care at the Jos University Teaching Hospital after attackers brutally severed her hand.
The foundation mourns the loss of public figures like Honourable Sabo Abang, abducted on the same night and brutally slaughtered three days later. Dr. Para-Mallam, the foundation’s President and CEO, expresses deep sympathies to the victims’ families, Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State, and all affected Nigerians. He criticizes the federal government for its inadequate response, lambasting the misinterpretation of the violence as a mere clash.
The statement emphasizes the urgent need for proactive measures over current reactive military responses. It highlights the ongoing violence even during a visit by a Presidential Team, including Vice President Kashim Shettima and National Security Adviser Malam Nuhu Ribadu, questioning the silence of the international community and urging a united stance against terrorism in the Middle-belt region.
Dr. Para-Mallam passionately appeals for concerted efforts to achieve sustainable peace and end the bloodshed in Plateau State. He emphasizes that only decisive action, devoid of politicization, can ensure true peace and security for the region’s inhabitants. The survivor’s harrowing account serves as a poignant call to action against the atrocities witnessed on that fateful Christmas Eve.
