The Enugu State Police have released photographs of Police Inspector Ozonwanji Joseph, identified as the officer responsible for the shooting death of Ogene musician Chikezie Okezie Nwamba, popularly known as Igbo-Jah.

In a heartfelt visit on October 26, 2024, Commissioner of Police Kanayo Uzuegbu, psc (+), alongside senior government officials, reached out to the family of the late Igbo-Jah.

This visit was in response to the tragic shooting and murder of the musician by a police officer.

During the visit, CP Uzuegbu extended his condolences and reaffirmed the commitment of the Enugu State Police Command to thoroughly investigate the incident. He assured the bereaved family, as well as friends and the community, that justice would be served promptly.

“The Nigeria Police Force is a disciplined organization, and any police officers found guilty of misconduct will face the appropriate consequences,” stated CP Uzuegbu. He expressed deep sympathy for all those affected by this senseless act and encouraged the public to remain hopeful and supportive as the investigation progresses.

In related news, Police Inspector Ozonwanji Joseph has been identified as the officer involved in the shooting. His unredacted photographs are included in the official statement. He is currently in custody and will face legal action upon the completion of the investigation.
