Police authorities have announced rescue of two persons abducted during attack on the convoy of United States consulate staff in Anambra State.

Recall that the convoy of the US Consulate Staff (all Nigerians) came under heavy attack by gunmen suspected to be members of the proscribed Indigenous People Of Biafra along Atani/Osamela road in Ogbaru Local Government Area (LGA) of Anambra State on Tuesday, 16th May, 2023.

During the attack, 7 persons including security operatives where killed and their vehicles set on fire while the remaining two persons were abducted.

However, in a statement on Friday morning, Anambra police spokesman, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu said the two persons were rescued “in the early hours of today.

Ikenga revealed they wee rescued unhurt by the the joint security forces and assured that “operations are still ongoing and further details shall be communicated, please.”
