The Police Service Commission has announced the promotion of 1607 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) to the rank of Superintendents of Police (SPs), marking a significant advancement in their careers.
Among the promoted officers are notable figures like Tochukwu Ikenganyia and Bright Edafe, serving as Public Relations officers for Anambra and Delta states, respectively.
This elevation encompasses 158 officers in the Professional cadre, including specialists in Communication, Transport, Medical, Nursing, and Works units. Additionally, six Workshop Officers, three Maritime specialists, and representatives from Medical, Dental, and Band units have been promoted to the rank of Superintendent.
With 1423 DSPs promoted in the General Duty cadre, the Commission emphasizes its commitment to providing equal opportunities for all police cadres. Chairman Solomon Arase underscores the importance of specialists in enhancing policing efficiency and effectiveness, pledging continued support and privileges for their contributions.
Arase urges the newly promoted officers to rededicate themselves to national service, emphasizing the crucial role of the police in combating insurgency and banditry. He warns against misconduct, urging adherence to ethics and regulations, with a specific caution against involvement in land matters and minor disputes.
Highlighted among the promoted officers are individuals like Clement Ominiyi Awoyemi, Salami Ganiyu, Dogo Mathew, and others, recognized for their exemplary service across various commands and units.
The Commission has officially communicated its approval to the Inspector General of Police for implementation, signaling a new chapter of leadership and responsibility within the Nigerian Police Force.
