Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate for the Labour Party, has laid the blame for Nigeria’s problems squarely on its politicians, not its youth.

In a recent visit to News Central, Obi emphasized that the country’s challenges stem from the politicians who have led it to the brink, rather than the younger generation.

Obi commended Nigeria’s youth as some of the most entrepreneurial and energetic individuals globally, countering any negative narratives about them. He called on the media to persist in their efforts to uncover and expose the corruption and incompetence of the country’s leaders. According to Obi, the media serves as the vital voice for the voiceless in Nigeria.

Addressing the issue of rising tribal and religious bigotry, Obi attributed these divisions to underperforming politicians who lack the ability to govern effectively. He asserted that such leaders use divisive rhetoric as a distraction from their own failures.

Obi urged the media to continue their critical role in holding politicians accountable and working towards a Nigeria where every individual has the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their background.
