Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity and the official Presidential Spokesperson, has announced his decision to take an indefinite leave of absence from his duties.

The announcement was made through a memo submitted to the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, on Friday. Ngelale cited urgent medical concerns affecting his immediate family as the main reason for his decision.

“This agonizing decision comes after extensive consultations with my family in recent days as we face a worsening medical situation at home,” Ngelale stated.

His absence will affect multiple roles within the administration, including his responsibilities as Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action and Chairman of the Presidential Steering Committee on Project Evergreen.

While acknowledging the significance of his duties, Ngelale emphasized, “I fully understand that the ship of state waits for no man, but this difficult decision was necessary due to my family’s health circumstances.”

The duration of his leave remains uncertain, as he described it as “indefinite.” However, Ngelale expressed his hope to return to his national service roles once conditions improve.

“I look forward to resuming my full-time national service when time, healing, and fate permit,” he added.
