Nigerians have taken to the microblogging platform X (formerly Twitter) to criticize Dada Olusegun, the Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Social Media. This backlash came after Olusegun threatened legal action against individuals who released his phone number online.
Olusegun’s response to the release of his phone number was stern: “Releasing my phone number online is not going to stop me from calling on all the right-minded people to desist from allowing these opportunists from burning our nation to the ground. All your curses and threats don’t matter. As long as our country doesn’t burn, it doesn’t matter.”
Following this statement, screenshots surfaced of Olusegun’s old tweets from 2012, where he allegedly shared the phone number of former President Goodluck Jonathan. Additionally, Olusegun had previously disclosed the phone number of the then National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Adamu Muazu, urging Nigerians to bombard him with messages. He tweeted, “Cc @Muazuaa @Lord Puzo: This is the phone number of PDP National Chairman, Adamu Muazu (08072351551), bombard him with messages. #Justice4Koro.”
Olusegun’s past tweets also included derogatory remarks about Goodluck Jonathan, stating, “GEJ is a f**l and idi*t! We will protest; yes, we will. Wake up ppl, leggo ppl!”
The resurfacing of these tweets has sparked widespread criticism, with many Nigerians highlighting the apparent hypocrisy in Olusegun’s actions and statements.
