Less than 24 hours to the closure of the 2023 season summer transfer market, Real Madrid were closing in on the signing of primary target, Kylian Mbappe.

The Spanish giant have been silently watching from the sidelines as PSG and Mbappe were embroiled in a dramatic turn of events that saw the forward being reinstated to the squad after being frozen out initially.

And it was suggested that the French captain will now remain in Paris for another season and possibly even sign a new contract which would close the doors on a move to Real Madrid.

However in twist and shocking development, Spanish publication Voz Populi is reporting that Real Madrid may very well be closing in on the securing their prime target Kylian Mbappe before Friday deadline of transfer window despite other media outlets suggesting otherwise.

The report claimed Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has decided to launch an offer for Mbappe and that the signing could be closed imminently.

The report adds that PSG’s owners in Qatar have decided to lower their asking price for Mbappe by €50 million, although the exact figures of the operation are not mentioned.

Either way, the Parisian giants want to sign Randal Kolo Muani and need to get rid of Mbappe in order to avoid breaching UEFA’s FFP rules as per the report. As such, Mbappe could soon be allowed to leave with Perez agreeing to make an offer.

The report quotes a source close to the operation in the club claiming that Mbappe’s signing could take place in the coming hours.

It is further claimed that Mbappe would be on a contract worth around €50 million per year (gross) making him the highest earner at Real Madrid, although it would be lower than what he earns at PSG.
