The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Felix Morka, has downplayed concerns over the absence of key party leaders at the recently concluded National Caucus and National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings.

Addressing the media on the meeting’s outcomes, Morka emphasized that full attendance at such gatherings is never expected. He assured that all members were duly invited and that the party even expanded the list of attendees.

“I have never known any caucus or NEC meeting of our party to have 100% attendance. No political party achieves that,” Morka stated.

He further explained that the timing of NEC meetings is often influenced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s schedule due to his numerous commitments.

“All members of the Caucus and NEC were invited. In fact, we enlarged the list to include more members than in previous meetings,” he noted.

Turning to recent criticisms from former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai, Morka cautioned him against making grievances-driven statements that could attract counter-responses from party members. He dismissed el-Rufai’s claim that the APC’s internal structures were dysfunctional, asserting that all party organs remain active and effective.

“There is a difference between genuine party concerns and comments driven by personal grievances. The former governor has an axe to grind, and such statements should not be taken seriously,” Morka said.

He urged el-Rufai to conduct himself in a manner befitting his status as a former minister and governor, warning that continued public dissatisfaction could invite backlash from other party members.

“El-Rufai is a respected figure, but he is just one individual in the party’s structure. If he continues to engage in unnecessary criticisms, people will respond,” Morka added.

The APC spokesman reiterated that party unity remains intact, dismissing any notions of internal dysfunction.
