Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, officially inaugurated the newly elected chairmen of the 23 local government areas on Sunday, following their victories in the recent Local Government Council elections.

The elections, held on Saturday, saw 22 chairmen from the Action Peoples Party (APP) and one from the Action Alliance sworn into office.

The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Executive Council Chambers of the Government House in Port Harcourt. The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) confirmed the APP as the dominant party in the election, securing wins in 22 of the local government areas, with the Action Alliance claiming a single chairmanship seat.

In his address, Governor Fubara congratulated the new chairmen on their electoral successes and encouraged them to focus on fulfilling their campaign promises. He highlighted the importance of improving the welfare of their local communities as they take on their new roles.

The ceremony was graced by prominent figures, including Bala Mohammed, Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum and Governor of Bauchi State, who attended to show his support for the newly elected officials.
