Alhaji Asari Dokubo, former Niger Delta militant, has warned the governor of Rivers State, Sim Fubara, on his comments that Rivers is a Christian state.

Recall that Fubara in a tweet after his inauguration on May 29, 2023, stated that the state would stay strong in its Christian values.

However, while responding on Facebook Live, Dokubo accused Fubara of starting his administration on a wrong note.

The ex-militant noted that such a comment goes against the principles of inclusivity and religious freedom.

Dokubo maintained that the governor lacked the authority to unilaterally declare the state a Christian one.

“I am using this medium to advise the governor, Sim Fubara, to better retract the statement. “I want him to know that Rivers State is not and will never be a Christian state. With such a statement, I can say that the governor is starting on the wrong footing,” Dokubo said.
