In a surprising twist, Hon. Linda Somari Stewart, the representative of Okrika in the Rivers State House of Assembly, has reversed her earlier defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The move is seen as a significant setback for FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, with Stewart officially rejoining the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

NN News Media gathered that the second lawmaker, whose identity remains undisclosed due to proximity to Minister Wike, has also made a quiet return to the PDP.

This strategic shift aligns Stewart firmly with Governor Siminalayi Fubara, the state leader, and has the potential to reshape the political landscape in Rivers State amidst the ongoing crisis between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.

Stewart’s decision to rejoin the PDP indicates a shifting dynamic in the state, suggesting that Governor Fubara is gaining ground. Notably, this comes after the departure of 27 state lawmakers loyal to Minister Nyesom Wike, who had defected to the APC.

The Speaker of the House declared their seats vacant in the aftermath of the defection.

Confirming the development, PDP National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba stated on Channels TV that two out of the 27 lawmakers have now returned to the PDP, marking a noteworthy turn in the political scenario within Rivers State.
