Rivers state will partner quantity surveyors in projects delivery, says Fubara

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to collaborating with quantity surveyors to ensure the effective delivery of infrastructure projects across the state.

Governor Fubara made this pledge during a meeting with the national executive of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS), led by its President, Kene Nzekwe, at Government House, Port Harcourt. The visit coincided with the NIQS Annual General Meeting and national conference, themed “Strengthening Quantity Surveying Practices and Processes for Growth and Sustainability in a Turbulent Economy.”

Highlighting the critical role of quantity surveyors in the success of infrastructure initiatives, the Governor expressed his administration’s resolve to foster professionalism and accountability in project execution. He also assured support for the professional development of quantity surveyors within the State Civil Service by facilitating necessary certifications to enhance their skills and competitiveness both locally and internationally.

Governor Fubara commended the institute’s leadership and members for their contributions to the state and the nation, urging them to uphold high standards of professionalism and ethical conduct to bolster confidence in the industry. He emphasized that strict adherence to due process and engagement of qualified professionals have contributed to the state’s impressive track record of minimal project failures.

“Our administration is dedicated to maintaining rigorous diligence in project execution,” he said. “With the involvement of skilled professionals like quantity surveyors, we can achieve sustainable development and ensure that Rivers State remains a beacon of excellence.”

In his address, NIQS President Kene Nzekwe applauded Governor Fubara for his developmental strides, citing the ambitious Port Harcourt Ring Road project, which spans six local government areas, as a testament to the Governor’s commitment to statewide development.

“Since our arrival in Port Harcourt, we have been impressed by the city’s ambiance and tranquility,” Nzekwe said. “The Governor’s achievements, from significant road projects to investments in health, education, and internally generated revenue, reflect a forward-thinking approach to governance.”

He further praised the administration’s focus on economic diversity and inclusion through agriculture and foreign direct investment. Nzekwe pledged the institute’s continued collaboration with the government to ensure effective project execution and service delivery, affirming the readiness of quantity surveyors to contribute to the state’s progress.

Governor Fubara extended a warm welcome to the institute’s members, assuring them of Rivers State’s hospitality and an enabling environment for their AGM and national conference.
