Details have surfaced about Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State spending several days reveling in the Caribbean paradise of Grenada to commemorate the 50th birthday of Abuja-based businesswoman and socialite, Aisha Achimugu, suspected to be his side chick.

Returning to Nigeria on Wednesday in a private aircraft from the Caribbean, Governor Sanwo-Olu reportedly resided in one of the world’s most expensive resorts, the 80-acre Calivigny Island, known to cost around $132,000 per night. The governor’s absence raised questions among government officials, with conflicting statements about his whereabouts.

According to reports, Sanwo-Olu and other attendees alternated between Calivigny Island and the Silversand Grenada, a luxurious seven-star resort. The celebration, spanning seven days, incurred expenses totaling approximately $924,000 for the rented island, along with additional charges.

The governor’s departure on January 17 for the birthday carnival, which featured lavish events, including a “scrumptious welcome breakfast” and an “explosive finish” dinner, left Lagos State without its leader for several days. Sanwo-Olu joined the festivities on January 18 and remained until January 23.

Questions linger about the rationale behind the governor’s extended absence during a time of economic hardship for the people of Lagos. The source of funding for his Caribbean trip also remains undisclosed.

Aisha Achimugu, the founder and managing director of Felak Concept Group, celebrated her 50th birthday on January 22, hosting what attendees described as one of the most opulent parties ever witnessed. The Lagos State government is yet to issue a statement regarding this revelation.
