Senator Shehu Sani and a host of other Nigerians from various backgrounds have warned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu against embarking on a war with Niger Republic.
According to a source, the Nigerian Air Force has been deployed to Sokoto near the border with Niger Republic as Tinubu gets ready for war.

Reacting on his Twitter handle, ShehuSani, Senator Sani urged the Nigerian Senate not to approve any military action against Niger Republic, insisting that he is being “misled by foreign powers”.
He tweeted:
“The Nigerian Senate should NOT approve any military action against Niger Republic. This country should not be plunged into war and eventually stuck in war in the Sahel. President Tinubu shouldn’t allow himself to be misled by foreign powers. Saudi in Yemen, America in Afghanistan and now Russia in Ukraine should teach us a lesson that war doesn’t end in days, weeks or months.
“Senators should weigh the implications and consequences of their decisions, especially those senators representing states along the Niger Border. Weaponising electricity supplies to Niger is also condemnable. President Tinubu should continue to explore diplomatic channels and save the lives of those who will be sacrificed. That’s my view.”
Investigative journalist, David Hundeyin, wondered what is Tinubu’s interest in Niger when Nigeria is classified as one of the world’s poorest countries without adequate access to electricity, clean water, good roads and modern healthcare.
Tweeting on his Twitter handle, DavidHundeyin, he said:
“You come from some of the world’s poorest countries where universal access to electricity, clean water, all-weather roads, and modern healthcare are still 40 years away. Why on earth would it be your priority to help two of the world’s biggest bullies fight their forever war?”
