In the spirit of the festive season, Hon. Keftin Amuga, the 2023 Gombe State Labour Party Gubernatorial Candidate, has fervently appealed to Governor Alh. Inuwa Yahaya to consider releasing political prisoners associated with the Mai Tangale appointment crisis since 2021.

Amuga aims to challenge perceptions of religious bias and promote religious tolerance in the predominantly Christian Tangale community.

Amuga, emphasizing the need for Governor Yahaya to disprove assertions of religious bias, pointed to the incarceration of individuals from the Christian majority Tangale people, following the disputed appointment of Dr. Musa Idris Maiyamba.

The LP Guber candidate urged politicians, irrespective of affiliations, to join him in appealing for the release of these detainees, fostering respect and tolerance during the Christmas season.

In a statement personally signed by Amuga, he encouraged religious leaders, particularly Christian leaders, to speak out against the continued detention of these individuals. He believes their influential voices can play a pivotal role in advocating justice for all and fostering religious harmony.

“As we celebrate this joyous season, I encourage all Christians to support their prayers with fasting for the unconditional release of the detainees. Let us engage in soul-searching, thought-provoking, and prayerful Christmas and New Year celebrations,” said Amuga, wishing the people of Gombe a God-fearing and blessed festive season.
