Senator Ireti Kingibe, representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in the National Assembly, has criticized FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, alleging his indifference towards the residents of the nation’s capital.
Speaking at an event organized by activist Moses Paul to commemorate the first anniversary of the 2023 presidential election, Kingibe condemned what she termed Wike’s “I don’t care attitude.”
Expressing concern over the minister’s demeanor, Kingibe pledged that she and her supporters, referred to as the “Obidients,” would strategize to address the situation. She emphasized the urgency of the matter, stating that the nation was facing troubling times.
“We, as a nation right now, we are in trouble,” declared Kingibe. “Yes, you’ve elected me as senator of the FCT, which is the highest elected office in the FCT, but I have to work with a minister who doesn’t seem to realize that there are people living in the FCT.”
Despite the challenges, Kingibe remained resolute in finding solutions. “But we, Obidients, will have to figure a way around it,” she affirmed. “We need to start planning and organizing ourselves as quickly as possible. In fact, the condition (of the nation) is critical if we don’t do anything now. Insecurity is what is about to consume us.”
Kingibe underscored the severity of the situation, noting the impact on daily life. “You can’t go to the farm. You can’t do anything. We have to take charge,” she asserted, highlighting the imperative for action in the face of mounting challenges.
