In a recent address at the 2nd Chronicle Roundtable event in Abuja, Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shettima emphasized the All Progressive Congress’s (APC) adoption of solutions proposed by opposition candidates for national development.

The event, organized by 21st Century Media Services, brought together key stakeholders to discuss the country’s economic and social agenda.

As the guest speaker, Shettima appealed to Nigerians to be patient with the administration of President Bola Tinubu, stating that the APC had merely adopted the solutions promised by opposition candidates like Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar. He highlighted that some of the policies implemented by the Tinubu administration, such as the removal of the petrol subsidy, were part of its economic and social agenda, which were previously discussed by opposition parties.

Shettima emphasized that the APC’s actions were not a betrayal of its campaign promises but rather a pragmatic approach to addressing the country’s economic challenges. He noted that the removal of the petrol subsidy was a necessary step to steer the country’s economy through the turbulent times it faced upon assuming office.

The Vice President also expressed optimism about the future of Nigeria’s economy, stating that once the current sacrifices are overcome, significant growth will be experienced. He predicted that positive changes will soon be evident across various economic indicators, including inflation, per capita income, GDP numbers, poverty reduction, food security, and other aspects that are close to the hearts of the Nigerian people.

In a press statement released by Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media & Communications, Stanley Nkwocha, Shettima further emphasized the need to review the Renewed Hope Agenda document, which outlines the APC’s vision for national development. He stressed that this review is crucial in ensuring that the party stays true to its campaign promises and continues to work towards the betterment of Nigeria.

Shettima’s address at the Chronicle Roundtable event underscores the APC’s commitment to adopting practical solutions to Nigeria’s economic and social challenges, regardless of their origin. By embracing the ideas of opposition parties, the APC aims to ensure that its policies are effective and beneficial to the Nigerian people.
