Also met with Italy, Niger Republic prime ministers

Vice-President Kashim Shettima met with Russian President Vladimir Putin at a summit in St. Petersburg on Thursday.

Shettima, who represented President Bola Tinubu at the ongoing second Russia-Africa economic and humanitarian forum, assured President Putin closer ties between the two nations.

The summit is focused on strategising to enhance relations between Russia and the African continent, among others.

He also met with the Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni, to discuss bilateral trade in Rome on Monday, July 24.

The former Governor of Borno State met with Meloni on the sidelines of the United Nations (UN) Food Systems Summit in Rome.

The vice president also met with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Niger, His Excellency Mahamadou Ouhoumoudou on the sidelines of the UN Summit.
