Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo, openly confessed to declining the construction of a road in Okpoko community, Ogbaru Local Government Area, due to political differences with the area’s House of Representatives member, Noble Igwe.

During the inauguration of 12 kilometers of roads in Okpoko, Soludo admitted dismissing requests to address the poor state of Nwokedi Street, as advocated by Igwe, who was then in the opposition party.

Explaining his stance, Soludo highlighted that Igwe’s political affiliation had influenced his decision-making at the time. However, he noted a significant shift in Igwe’s political allegiance, as he now belongs to Soludo’s party, granting him greater access to advocate for community development projects.

Soludo emphasized the importance of political alignment in influencing decisions, acknowledging Igwe’s transition from opposition to an influential member within the ruling party.

“In the past, political affiliations influenced our actions. But with Noble Igwe now part of our party, we are committed to addressing community needs, regardless of past differences,” stated Soludo.

The governor’s candid admission sheds light on the intricate interplay between politics and governance, underscoring the challenges and opportunities inherent in addressing community development.
