Governor Charles Chukuwma Soludo of Anambra State has shared the reasons behind the delay in fulfilling his campaign promise to transform the state into the ‘Dubai-Taiwan of Nigeria.’

Speaking at a recent event, Soludo acknowledged that many people envision this transformation as a rapid construction of skyscrapers. However, he pointed out that such development cannot occur without addressing the issue of ‘illiteracy’ within the state’s population.

Emphasizing the importance of education, Soludo stated that enhancing the educational framework is essential for making his ambitious vision a reality.

In related news, tensions have escalated between Governor Soludo and the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Achebe, following the governor’s absence from the 2024 Onitsha Ofala Festival. Historically, Soludo has been a prominent attendee at this annual event, which aims to strengthen ties with traditional leadership. However, the relationship between the two leaders soured after Soludo suspended Igwe Ezeani of Neni for conferring a title on the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, a potential rival in the upcoming elections.

Igwe Achebe, who heads the Traditional Rulers Council in Anambra, criticized the governor in an open letter, accusing him of undermining traditional institutions in the state. He expressed concern that while other regions of Nigeria are working to empower their traditional leaders, Anambra is experiencing a decline in the status and influence of its own traditional institutions.
