The South East Youths Alliance for Fubara (SEYAF) has expressed strong support for Rivers State Governor Similayi Fubara, lauding him as one of Nigeria’s most effective governors.

In a statement issued by SEYAF Coordinator, Comrade Paschal Nnaemeka Ugwu, the group commended Fubara’s impressive achievements, which include infrastructural developments, healthcare improvements, and educational reforms that have benefited the state.

SEYAF also addressed the growing political tension in Rivers State, urging Nyesom Wike, the Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, to refrain from actions that could disrupt the state’s progress. The group criticized Wike’s tenure as governor, emphasizing the need for peace and development under Fubara’s leadership.

The group further appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene in the rift between Fubara and Wike, cautioning that the ongoing dispute threatens the state’s stability. SEYAF remains optimistic about Governor Fubara’s capacity to continue steering Rivers State toward greater prosperity, citing his numerous accomplishments in a short period.

“The South East Youth Alliance for Fubara is deeply concerned about the political instability in Rivers State, stemming from the conflict between Governor Similayi Fubara and Minister Nyesom Wike,” the statement read. “This discord endangers the progress made under Governor Fubara and could plunge the state into unnecessary turmoil.”

SEYAF highlighted Governor Fubara’s notable infrastructural projects, including the planned reconstruction of Ngo internal roads and the extension to Oyorokoto Town. These initiatives are expected to ease transportation challenges and boost the local economy.

The group also praised the governor’s focus on healthcare, particularly the revival of emergency ambulance services and the upgrading of 33 primary healthcare centers across the state, ensuring that basic healthcare reaches grassroots communities.

Governor Fubara’s administration has made significant strides in increasing the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) from ₦12 billion to ₦28 billion, reflecting his commitment to sound financial management. His administration’s efforts to complete 34 previously abandoned projects across 13 local government areas, as well as the infusion of ₦4 billion into the MSME sector to support 3,000 youths, were also applauded as key steps toward reducing unemployment and fostering entrepreneurship.

The statement also recognized the governor’s backing of Hon. Chijioke Ihunwo, the Chairman of Obiakpor Local Government Area, praising his leadership and the progress made under his tenure.

However, SEYAF expressed concern over the escalating feud between Fubara and Wike, urging both leaders to prioritize the state’s welfare over personal disputes. The group called on President Tinubu to mediate the conflict to prevent further destabilization.

“We reaffirm our support for Governor Fubara and his development-driven leadership. The future of Rivers State is bright under his administration, and we are confident that, with unity and focus, the state will overcome this crisis and continue on its path to prosperity,” the group concluded.
