The Southern Youth Assembly (SYA) has described the recent resignation of several commissioners in Rivers State as an “act of God.”
In a statement signed by co-chairmen Comrade Jack Okpobiri Ofili, Dr. Oluwasanmi Ayoola, and Chief Mbanefo Okoye, and made available to journalists, the group emphasized that the resignation of these commissioners, who were loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and not to the Rivers people, was part of a divine plan to liberate the state.
The SYA noted that with the departure of these disloyal appointees, Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s administration is being purged of internal saboteurs, positioning it better to deliver more democratic dividends to the citizens of Rivers State.
The group further highlighted that the resignation of a few self-serving individuals does not reflect the stance of the 5.6 million citizens of Rivers State, who remain supportive of Governor Fubara. “As the umbrella body of youth organizations in the 17 Southern States, we see this as God’s plan to liberate the state,” the statement said.
The statement continued, “It’s an open secret that the commissioners who recently tendered their resignations are loyal to Nyesom Wike and not to the government and people of Rivers State. Most of them resigned after their plots to sabotage Governor Fubara’s administration failed.”
The SYA commended Governor Fubara for maintaining composure amidst these distractions and emphasized that the resignation of these commissioners would allow the administration to focus on governance with loyal and aligned personnel.
The SYA concluded by expressing confidence that the resignation of these treacherous commissioners would pave the way for greater accomplishments in Rivers State, as the governor continues to receive overwhelming support from the citizens.
