The recently disclosed 2024 Appropriation Bill highlights a substantial allocation of N460,217,071 by the Federal Government for “Materials and Supplies” at the State House.
President Bola Tinubu presented the budget, named the “Budget of Renewed Hope,” to the National Assembly on November 29. Within this allocation, N253,277,638 is specifically designated for foodstuffs and catering materials.
The budget encompasses various items such as office stationeries, books, newspapers, and more, as detailed by the Budget Office of the Federation.
Specific allocations within the Materials and Supplies category include N66,719,333 for office stationeries/computer consumables, N6,427,173 for books, and N21,296,484 for newspapers, among others. Additionally, N260.8 million is budgeted for electricity bills and N50 million for internet access charges, part of the N372 million earmarked for utilities, which also cover telephone charges, water rates, and sewerage charges.
Further breakdown reveals N217 million allocated for fuel and lubricants at the State House, with N148 million for motor vehicle fuel cost, N37 million for plant/generator fuel cost, and N31 million for cooking gas.
The disclosed budget provides a comprehensive view of the financial allocations aimed at sustaining various operational aspects of the State House in the fiscal year 2024.
