In an official statement issued by Prof Sambo Janaidu, Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Sultanate Council Sokoto, the Sultan of Sokoto and President General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, has urged the Muslim Ummah to keep an eye out for the new Moon of Rajab 1445 AH, with the search set to begin on Friday, Jan. 12.

The announcement designates this day as equivalent to the 29th day of Jumada-Assani 1445 AH.

Muslims are instructed to commence the search on the specified date and report their findings regarding the new moon sighting to the nearest District or Village Head for communication to the Sultan. The Sultan, in his message, extended prayers for Allah’s assistance in aiding all Muslims to fulfill their religious duties.

Rajab, the seventh month in the Islamic calendar, holds significance as one of the four sacred months in Islam, during which battles are prohibited.
