In a pivotal development, the Supreme Court has scheduled Thursday, December 21, 2023, for the highly anticipated hearing of the appeal in the Kano governorship case.

Governor Yusuf’s legal representative, Barrister Bashir Tudun Waziri, has officially confirmed the receipt of the hearing notice for the governor and his party.

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has lodged a notice of appeal before the Supreme Court, challenging the judgment of the Court of Appeal, which upheld the decision of the governorship election petition tribunal.

Gboyega Awomolo, SAN, counsel for the appellant, has enumerated ten grounds for contesting the appeal, specifically targeting “the entire judgment of the Court of Appeal save and except the conclusion and order” on page 67 of the duly Certified True Copy, CTC, including the order regarding costs favorable to the appellant.

As the legal battle escalates to the apex court, all eyes are now fixed on the imminent proceedings, with the potential to reshape the outcome of the Kano state governorship election. The stakes are high, and the implications profound, making this hearing a pivotal moment in the ongoing political saga.
