The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) eagerly awaits the Supreme Court’s judgment this Friday, as confirmed by Barrister Bashir Tudun Wuzirci, the secretary of the legal team.

The court has instructed each party to limit their legal representation to two counsels due to the delivery of seven judgments on the same day.

Kano state governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has appealed the Court of Appeal’s decision that affirmed his removal from office.

The Election Petition Tribunal initially ousted the governor, directing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue a certificate of return to Nasir Yusuf Gawuna, the All-Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the March 2023 election.

Governor Yusuf, dissatisfied with the tribunal’s ruling, took the case to the Appeal Court. Despite upholding his removal, the appellate court added that the governor was not a party member during the election and, therefore, was not properly sponsored for the electoral contest.

The Supreme Court’s impending judgment holds significant implications for the political landscape in Kano state.
