Former Sokoto State Governor and current Senator, Aminu Tambuwal, has argued that President Bola Tinubu would struggle to retain power in 2027 if Nigeria’s major opposition figures join forces.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday, Tambuwal suggested that a coalition involving former President Goodluck Jonathan, ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party’s Peter Obi, and NNPP leader Rabiu Kwankwaso could easily unseat Tinubu.
“It will be easier for the opposition to form an alliance to defeat Tinubu,” he said. “But if Tinubu, Jonathan, Atiku, Peter Obi, and Kwankwaso all run separately in the same election, it would be difficult for Tinubu to win. When this happens, the dynamics will be different, and it will shape how people cast their votes.”
Asked about his preferred candidate for 2027, Tambuwal declined to endorse anyone for now, saying he would reveal his choice once aspirants formally declare their ambitions.
